Adult Health Information and Services

Provides services for adults age 20 years and over. Activities include blood pressure screenings, influenza immunizations, pregnancy/STD/- HIV/AIDS testing, and provides resources/information on other adult health issues.

Animal Bite Information and Services

Activities include providing prevention materials and following up on animal bites incidents and exposures to ensure precautions are taken to prevent diseases, such as rabies and hantavirus.

Child Care Consultation Services

Provides assistance to child care homes and centers with immunization records, health care policies and procedures, and safety issues. Keep on Track; immunization tracking materials and training are available. Staff in-service or educational presentations for children and/or their parents are available for a wide variety of health care topics. Consultation services provided, both on site or by phone regarding growth and development concerns, early brain development, and illness and injury prevention.

Children with Special Health Care Needs Services

Provides services to children between the ages of birth to 18 who have special health care needs.

Communicable Disease Information and Services

Provides educational information on various communicable diseases, such as Hepatitis and Pertussis (Whooping Cough) etc. Provides tracking and follow up on individuals potentially exposed to communicable diseases to prevent further spread of the illness.

Dental Program

Baby bottle tooth decay education and application of fluoride varnish for children ages 1 through age 18.

Drinking Water Services

Provides Group B water system packet reviews and information. Provides information on Group A water systems. Information on private wells, such as preventing contamination and disinfection, is also available.

Activities include permitting, inspecting and plan review for all food service establishments including temporary events.

All Temporary Food Applications are due at least 2 business days before the event.  Failure to turn the application in by the required day will result in a late fee, which is double the permit fee.

Food Related (Foodborne) Illness Investigations

Activities include following up on cases of suspected food related illnesses and potential food contamination.

Food Worker Education Program

Provides classes and information on proper food preparation, storage and hanDling. Individuals involved in these types of activities at establishments that serve or sell food to the public are required to have a valid food worker card.

HIV/AIDS Information and Services

Services include counseling and testing for exposure to HIV (the virus that causes AIDS), education programs for the general public, required educational training such as bloodborne pathogens, and case management for individuals who are HIV positive.

Immunization Information and Services

Services and activities include providing information on vaccine preventable diseases, distributing vaccine to area immunization providers, and providing immunizations to infants, children, and adults.

Information on Environmental Health Issues

Activities include providing information to the community on various environmental health issues. Areas for which information is available include: indoor air quality, waterborne and foodborne diseases, lead exposure, radon gas, and numerous other potential environmental hazards. Information on hazardous materials, such as lead, pesticides, and asbestos is available. Guidance on who to contact and what to do if a suspected exposure to hazardous materials has occurred is also available.

Jail Health Services

Provides health related services to individuals incarcerated at the Adams County jail.

Land Development

Activities include reviewing subdivisions for septic suitability, water availability, and density requirements.

Maternity Support Services

Provides services that relate to the maintenance and improvement of health for pregnant women, mothers with young children, and children up to the age of 19.

Provides pregnancy testing services on a Sliding fee scale.

Activities include permitting, inspecting, and providing information on new and existing septic systems.

Activities include inspecting public use swimming pools for safety and other potential hazards and providing information regarding proper maintenance of pools.

Tuberculosis Services

Provides clinical services, such as testing for exposure to TB, and follow-up services for individuals who have been exposed to the disease.

Vital Records

Provides certified birth certificates for persons born from 1925 to present within Washington State. Birth certificates from 1909-present and death certificates from 1910-present are on file.

Activities include the provision of nutrition information / guidance and supplemental food vouchers for eligible pregnant women and children under five years old.

Youth Tobacco Prevention Program

Program involves youth activities to promote tobacco free lifestyles. Offers educational services for retailers and includes tobacco retailer compliance checks.
