Closures of I-90 to begin for Schoessler Road overpass repairs near Ritzville
RITZVILLE – Travelers using westbound Interstate 90 near Ritzville will need to plan additional travel time to prevent delays.
Crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close westbound I-90 and reroute travelers through the off-ramp at the Schoessler Road interchange and back onto I-90 in order to repair damage from an oversized load that struck the underside of the overpass in June. Crews will be removing and replacing damaged concrete to the underside of the overpass during the closure.
Closures of westbound I-90
- Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Thursday, Nov. 19, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Monday, Nov. 23, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
During the closures of I-90 on Monday, Nov. 23, and Tuesday, Nov. 24, travelers will see an additional closure to Schoessler Road that crosses over I-90. Crews will be drilling into the concrete deck to complete the repair to the Schoessler Road overpass.
Once Schoessler Road is closed, travelers needing access north or south of I-90 will be detoured on Hills Road or Danekas Road to the Tokio interchange to the east.
By law, vehicle operators are responsible for knowing their vehicle height as well as bridge heights along their route. WSDOT’s online Bridge Vertical Clearance Trip Planner tool provides a way to map a route for over height vehicles.
